What it must do
Contract K describes observable conditions software must satisfy.
About Ato
Ato explores how to preserve a point in a computation so people can continue their work in a compatible environment. It is an open-source runtime and computation model for verifiable, transferable software.
Our vision: a better interface between people and computing.
Open-source runtime and computation model
A platform built on Ato to discover, try, save, and share software
Why Ato
Running software is often tied closely to a process, a machine, and its environment. Sharing or continuing work can mean reconstructing context, dependencies, and state. Ato explores how to preserve a point from which computation can continue.
A Capsule is a sealed, immutable, addressable point from which computation can continue. A Run resumes that point and evolves. Containers, VMs, or snapshots can help realize it, but do not define its identity.
The technology
Ato separates the conditions software must satisfy from the way they are achieved, making execution environments clearer for people and AI agents.
Contract K describes observable conditions software must satisfy.
Derivation D describes one way to meet those conditions.
A verification receipt records the selected route and actual observations.
Different routes can be investigated against the same contract. This does not guarantee that software runs in every environment.
Development status
Ato is experimental.
Browse and try public software on ato.run; build the CLI and run the static example.
Portable application contracts and verification across execution paths are under development.
General recovery across different hosts, process-memory restoration, and autonomous AI Formation are not generally available capabilities.
Open source and contact
Ato is developed by Kohsuke Egami, who operates ato.run as an individual sole proprietor in Japan. Technical exchange is welcome.
